From St. James Methodist Church History, 1988--1990
Remembering a Precious Sacred Moment: A little girl, age 9, attending a special service for children. The day was bright with God’s sunlight.
The neighborhood children were there and I was that little girl, sitting on the second pew, on the left, in the sanctuary of St. James Methodist Episcopal Church South.
How hushed and silent we were, as the visiting minister told us of Jesus and His love. I remember the tall white lighted candle on a table,
signifying the purity and love of Jesus, the Light of the World. I know that from that day on, that Jesus was mine and I was His. As I grew,
I also grew spiritually. Many high moments in my life and many dark valleys, but God had always been with me to sustain and comfort me.
There have many sacred times of re-dedication and re-consecration of my life. At the altar of St. James, in the quietness of my home, watching the wonder of the clouds, the rippling of a stream of water, the grandeur of majestic mountain peaks, the beauty of a flower, the stars, the moon, these are my cathedrals of worship.
Along life’s highway, I have prayed to God. If I have meant anything to anyone, in the precious name of Jesus, I humbly thank God for the
opportunity to witness for Him!
